Visitors throng Mother Baby & Child Show on first day

(ArabMedicare.com) The UAE Minister of Social Affairs, Ms. Mariam Mohammed Khalfan Al Roumi, inaugurated the Mother, Baby and Child Show 2006 (14-16 December) at the Zabeel Hall, Dubai International Exhibition and Convention Centre, setting in motion, three days of fun-filled and edutainment activities, carefully crafted to offer parents and children an insight into the latest trends into the worldwide healthcare industry.

The show which has attracted more than 120 local and international brands from the childcare industry, also features special awareness campaigns being conducted by the Ministry of Education and Youth, Ministry of Health and lectures by healthcare experts to offer tips to parents about the importance of breast-feeding, car safety, nutrition and treatment of common symptoms like cold, fever etc.

New products that were also launched on the fist day of the show, with Tefal, manufacturers of the electronic babycare products, launching their Aroma Humidifier, to control the humidity within a room and make breathing easy for children suffering from asthma.

Wyeth, baby milk producers, also chose the occasion to introduce a helpline, the Wyeth Gold Careline for mother struggling to gain information and valuable tips about the child's health and nutrition.

For the first time in its history, the show organizers, The Main Event (TME), has brought in animated characters like the Ninja Turtle and Barney, who are performing live on stage on each of the day of the show, inspiring children to develop the essential virtues -- sharing , caring imagining, dancing and learning - imperative for their personal development.

"The show is an ideal platform for retailers, pharmaceutical companies, health institutions and care-givers to come together and share information, embracing a wholesome approach to family and childcare," said Ms. Roumi.

Speaking at the inaugural session, the UAE Social Affairs Minister lauded the efforts of the organizers in trying to educate parents and care-givers in the areas of health, education, safety, nutrition and entertainment. "The goals of the conference coincide with that of the UAE Social Affairs Ministry in providing a safe, secure and healthy environment for children who are the future of the nation."

"Our aim is to support the local community by raising awareness on issues concerning parenting and childcare with free workshops, demonstrations blending them with fun and entertaining activities", said Ms. Shannon Norris, Exhibition Director, TME.

The show is being sponsored by Wyeth Gold, Aventis, New Boy, Nivea, Sebamed, Fuji Film, MSN Arabia, Parent Plus, All Woman, Aquarius, ArabMedicare.com, YummyMummy, Health & Nutrition and Good Living.

One of the highlights of the show is the Progress Zone for babies and toddlers where children can play while they learn. Mothers can make effective use of the Sudocrem Baby Changing and the Nestle Feeding Area. International cosmetic company, Nivea, has set up a stall providing mothers a free makeover after the stress during pregnancy while childcare products manufacturer Mothercare is offering visitors the "Pushchair Assault Course" in a very practical "try before you buy it" concept.

The most attractive feature of the fun-packed show is the series of competitions and attractive prizes lined up for the visitors. The Channel 4 FM is transmitting daily live links and listeners will be given a chance to win prizes ranging from Maclaren strollers, Ski Dubai passes, beauty products, vouchers from health and fashion brands. The star prize includes two return tickets between Dubai and London, courtesy Virgin Atlantic.
